Pottery and jewelry made using the raku process, in which glazed pieces are pulled from the kiln while glowing red hot (roughly 1800 degrees), which produces crackle patterns and metallic flashes, and leaves the unglazed clay a rich black. In some cases, horse hair, feathers, sugar, or other organic materials are applied and leave behind smoke patterns and carbon trails in beautiful lines and shapes.
